Luncheon at the State Capitol PDF Print E-mail
The first Annual Luncheon at Michigan State Capitol took place on Feb. 10th. The keynote speaker was Dr. Jill Carroll from Rice University, who is a well-known academic, a radio host and an author. The theme of her speech was “Dialogue of Civilizations.” In her speech, Dr. Carroll indicated that the clash of civilizations is not our destiny if we all work hard enough to change the course of the current conflicts. She also applauded the dialogue and educational activities of the world-wide Gulen Movement.

Intercultural Reception at the Michigan State Capitol PDF Print E-mail

The Second Annual Intercultural Reception at Michigan State Capitol took place on April 27th.The event provided the opportunity for the diverse ethnic, cultural and religious communities to come together with the elected officials to cultivate friendship, celebrate diversity, strengthen dialog and deepen intercultural awareness. Senator Gretchen Whitmer, Representatives Ed Clemente and  Tom Pearce welcomed the guests on behalf of the hosting committee, which was comprised of twenty legislators, and emphasized the importance of intercultural and interfaith dialog and pointed out Niagara Foundation’s contributions to that.This event was co-sponsored by the Turkish American Society of Michigan.

Cook & Share with Superintendent Cheryl Kreger PDF Print E-mail

In our second "Cook & Share" event on Jan. 12, 2010, Okemos Public Schools Superintendent Cheryl Kreger honored us by sharing her thoughts on the importance of diversity in K-12 education. She also shared a special recipe of hers with the guests. Niagara Foundation volunteers also showed the recipes of three delicious dishes. At the end, the guests enjoyed what has been cooked during the event.
